10. Facial Anatomy: Portraiture


This drawing shows good planning of the model, it is done using just white chalk on a dark blue/navy paper, this works really well to show off the highlights and uses the paper to show off the shadows. There is a good sense of depth in the drawing as you can see clearly see where the angles start and where the shape ends through shading, this works really well to give the drawing realism and appeals to the viewer.
The highlights on the face show that the model has a very sad expression on her face which is emphasised by the eyes that are drooping down, but also the forehead and how the skin wrinkles. The anatomical features of the drawing are correct and were clearly planned on the page before detail was added, this captures the likeliness of the model.
